Is Circus OK? Urgent Concerns Revisited–One Year into COVID

It has been a year since the pandemic has created a quarantine zone around the world, halting live performances everywhere. And while some regions like Australia are beginning to put up circus shows and festivals again, the majority of the performance and touring world is still awaiting vaccines and the reversal of travel ban restrictions. But will the performing arts simply return to “normal’ someday, or are there accumulating losses that will impact a healthy recovery? This panel was recorded exactly one year after we held our first panel to discuss concerns and issues around COVID that were unique to the circus sector. To mark the occasion of the one-year anniversary of this discussion, we asked “Is Circus OK?”
Listen in to for a realistic, sometimes somber, sometimes hopeful evaluation of what has changed in the circus sector over the past year and how long it might take for the field to recover and adapt.
