Young Performers Take Center Stage at APAP|NYC 2025

The Young Performers Career Advancement (YPCA) Program is set to shine once again at APAP|NYC 2025, offering a crucial platform for emerging classical musicians from around the world. As part of this prestigious annual gathering, which is recognized as one of the most influential events for performing arts professionals, YPCA serves as a launchpad for artists seeking to advance their careers in the competitive world of classical music.

This year’s YPCA Showcase will take place on January 13, 2025, at 7 PM ET at Merkin Hall, where a talented group of young musicians will perform in front of an audience packed with performing arts presenters, managers, agents, and industry leaders from across North America and beyond. These influential figures, attending APAP|NYC 2025 to plan and secure performances for the coming years, will witness firsthand the talent and artistry of the next generation of classical performers.

For nearly three decades, the YPCA Program, organized by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP), has provided early-career artists with invaluable professional development opportunities. YPCA was launched in 1996 as part of APAP’s Classical Connections Initiative, which was designed to support emerging artists in the formative stages of their careers.

APAP President and CEO Lisa Richards Toney emphasizes the importance of the program, saying, “YPCA has been a critical catalyst for hundreds of classical musicians, and APAP is proud to offer this program as a way to introduce promising young artists to the leaders shaping the future of performing arts.”

In addition to their showcase performance, the selected artists will engage in a tailored professional development program during the APAP|NYC 2025 conference. This includes seminars on audience engagement, strategies for communicating with managers and presenters, and setting long-term career goals. Participants also receive valuable coaching on navigating the touring and presenting industry.

The YPCA Program provides more than just performance opportunities—it equips artists with essential skills and knowledge to build sustainable careers. By taking part in networking events and receiving direct feedback from industry experts, these young performers will gain the connections and confidence needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving classical music landscape.

The 2025 YPCA participants have been selected through a competitive process, representing an impressive range of talent:

Adé Williams (Violinist): Renowned for her vibrant and powerful performances, Adé has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and prestigious venues around the world.
Anthony Trionfo (Flutist): Praised for his captivating performances, Anthony is also a co-founder of the Umoja Flute Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting flutists of African descent.
