The International Salieri Circus Award returns for its fourth edition from September 26 to 30, 2024, at the Salieri Theatre in Legnago. This prestigious event, blending circus arts with live symphonic music, will feature 22 acts from artists representing 21 different nationalities, creating a unique experience for the audience.

The Competing Acts & Highlighted Performances

Artists from Argentina, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, China, Cuba, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, Hungary, and the USA will compete for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Salieri Awards, which can be career-changing.

Selected from over 600 applications by artistic director Antonio Giarola, the 22 acts will be accompanied by the Orchestra Ritmico Sinfonica Italiana, conducted by Maestro Diego Basso. Performances will include solo acts, duets, and troupes, divided between two selection shows, “Axur” (A) and “Falstaff” (B).

Aerial acts will be a significant feature, with the female trio Wise Fools on a triple trapeze, duets on aerial poles by Xtreme Flying, and Yuchan’s classical dance with aerial strap evolutions. Other acts include trapeze dance by Valentina Padellini, aerial hoop performances by Patrik Nagy and the Luna Girls Duo, and surreal roller skating by Duo Rêve.

Ground acts will also shine, with Queen Habesha Girl’s contortion and rhythmic dance, knife-throwing by On Edge, hand-to-hand acts by Ballet on Shoulders and Duo Ice, and a variety of other performances, including hula hoop, verticalism, rola bola, dance, and juggling.

The Overture

The Overture for the fourth edition stems from a collaboration between the Salieri Circus Academy and the German company Scenic Circus, with choreography by Gulnara Savenko, Elena Grossule, and Giada Marchese, performed to the music of Antonio Salieri’s opera Falstaff. It features eight young Ukrainian dancers and circus artists, supported by Péter Fekete and the Capital Circus of Budapest, with significant co-funding from the European Union.

Established four years ago in Antonio Salieri’s birthplace, the International Salieri Circus Award aims to blend circus arts with live symphonic music. Conceived and produced by Proeventi, promoted by ANSAC – Associazione Nazionale Sviluppo Arti Circensi and Fondazione Teatro Salieri, the festival is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Legnago, Camera di Commercio di Verona, and under the patronage of the Regione Veneto and the Provincia di Verona.
