Technical Stage Manager for production and tour of Albatross, the new play by Martha Loader. Rehearsals take place in Cambridge, followed by a (largely) East of England small-scale venue tour, finishing with one week at the Omnibus Theatre, London.
Working alongside the Director and Creative Team to help the production come to fruition in rehearsal and on tour.
Rehearsal Period – being in rehearsal, helping to source props, creating a production book for the tour, liaising with venues to confirm technical arrangements.
Touring Period – supervising the get-in on the Company’s behalf, delegating jobs to touring team where and when necessary. Ensuring the set is in place, and the technical functions (lights, sound, projection) are ready for performance. This full-time, touring position will collaborate with the General Manager, Company Manager, Producer, and the Creative Team to support the day-to-day business, logistics, and operations of the tour.
Stage Management is responsible for:
– Facilitating communication across all creative and technical departments
– Distributing all show-related daily reports and schedules
– Assisting the Head Carpenter with advancing calls to upcoming venues
– Calling all technical cues during performances and overseeing all backstage activity when in performance
– Facilitating brush-up and understudy rehearsals during the tour’s run (making sure that put-in’s are happening)

The Stage Manager’s key duties include preparing the stage and dressing rooms for artists, running all rehearsals, and calling public performances throughout the summer. The Stage Manager will assist the Director of Production and Artistic Administration in scheduling, planning, and management of the summer season performances. They will be required to create, maintain, and distribute documentation and signage necessary for smooth-running productions. The Stage Manager is responsible for making sure the stage is prepared according to the artist rider for rehearsals and performances.
