Technical Stage Manager for Menagerie Theatre Company's tour of 'Albatross' by Martha Loader. Outside dates March 30th - May 30th 2026. DEADLINE: 5pm on 13.2.2026

Job Description

Technical Stage Manager for production and tour of Albatross, the new play by Martha Loader. Rehearsals take place in Cambridge, followed by a (largely) East of England small-scale venue tour, finishing with one week at the Omnibus Theatre, London.

Working alongside the Director and Creative Team to help the production come to fruition in rehearsal and on tour.

Rehearsal Period - being in rehearsal, helping to source props, creating a production book for the tour, liasing with venues to confirm technical arrangements.

Touring Period - supervising the get-in on the Company's behalf, delegating jobs to touring team where and when necessary. Ensuring the set is in place, and the technical functions (lights, sound, projection) are ready for performance. NECESSARY:

Stage management experience with strong technical skills & knowledge
Small-scale touring experience
A good working knowledge and practical experience of QLAB
Ability to prioritise workloads, think proactively and communicate clearly
DESIRABLE:

Full, clean driving license
Experience of driving transit van
Proximity to Cambridge
Knowledge of East of England small-scale touring circuit

Job Responsibilities

To coordinate and manage the technical side of the production, both in rehearsals and throughout the performance period - in conjunction with the Director and Creative Team
To be present in rehearsal and create a production book for the tour
To help source props
To be the primary technical contact with all the venues, during the rehearsal and performance period
To supervise get-in and get-out at each venue, delegating jobs to the touring team where and when necessary and appropriate
To ensure the stage is ready for each performance: ensuring the light, sound and projection plots are loaded into the venue's system; ensuring all necessary lights are correctly focused and the sound is playing correctly; ensuring actors have checked props and are all present at 30-minute call
To operate each performance through QLAB
