Free Anti-Racism Training for Theatre Boards and Leadership

Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) Wales is delighted to have received funding from the Welsh Government’s Anti-Racist Wales Culture Fund 2025–26 to work with the boards and leadership of producing and non-producing theatres, theatre companies, and arts spaces across Wales. The charity is calling out to organisations in Wales to get in touch.

This new project will support arts leaders to:

  • Build understanding of systemic racism in the arts sector
  • Reflect on their own attitudes, behaviours and values, and how these may reinforce or challenge systemic racism
  • Embed anti-racism within governance and decision-making to become more inclusive leaders
  • Ensure organisational policies and procedures are actively anti-racist
  • Evaluate and improve reporting and accountability mechanisms
  • Develop and implement a tailored Anti-Racism Action Plan with support from SRtRC

The programme can be delivered online, in person, or through a blended approach. SRtRC will work flexibly with participants to ensure sessions are meaningful, accessible and practical alongside existing commitments. Sessions are informal, interactive and centre around holding deeper conversations in a non-judgemental, positive manner.

“The arts have a vital role to play in reflecting and reshaping our society,” said Kate Powell, Education Co-ordinator at SRtRC Wales. “This project will help ensure anti-racism and inclusion are embedded in leadership and decision-making across the sector.”

This free offer is open to spaces across the arts in Wales.
