PRO Talk: Ready? Action! (Sports) – Casting Action Sports in Circus Productions

In our second episode of PRO Talks, action sport consultant, coach, and talent scout Jean-Damien Climonet shares just what he looks for in a demo video – and why. We also discuss the different aspects of transitioning from life as an athlete to life as an on-stage artist, including the similarities and differences in mindset, lifestyle, skill development and personal growth. Jean-Damien Climonet, freestyle skate Olympian Jean-Damien Climonet is a two-time Olympian in freestyle skiing (aerials.) He was a member of the French national ski team for 11 years and went on to coach freestyle skiing in France, Australia and Canada. Jean-Damien toured North America for five seasons performing in ski shows and special events.

Since retiring from sport, Jean-Damien has become an expert in action sports, serving as a Consultant at Cirque du Soleil (Crystal,Volta, Pan Am Games Opening Ceremony) and 7 Fingers, as well a Talent Scout and Coach specializing in stunts, moto (FMX, trial, stunt), martial arts, acrobatics, BMX, inline skating and freestyle ice skating.

Jean-Damien also works in technical, site and logistics management for international marquee events such as Les Etoiles du Sport, Les Vieilles Charrues, Les Francofolies and Freestyle Ski World Cup.

Designed especially for the 2022 edition of Montreal en Lumière, Cadence by The 7 Fingers is a journey through the history of skating including figure skating, ice dancing, acrobatic barrel jumps, ice acrobatics, and an ice rink turned skate park.

Sports extrêmes – c’est parti ! – Le casting des sports d’action dans les productions de cirque

Dans notre deuxième épisode PRO Talk, Jean-Damien Climonet, consultant en sports d’action, coach et dépisteur de talents, nous explique ce qu’il recherche dans une démo – et pourquoi. Nous discutons également des différents aspects de la transition de la vie d’athlète à la vie d’artiste sur scène, y compris les similitudes et les différences dans l’état d’esprit, le style de vie, le développement des compétences et la croissance personnelle. Découvrez un aperçu de l’univers en constante évolution des sports d’action destinés à la scène.

 

Jean-Damien Climonet a participé deux fois aux Jeux Olympiques en ski acrobatique (sauts). Il a été membre de l’équipe nationale française de ski pendant 11 ans et a ensuite été entraîneur de ski acrobatique en France, en Australie et au Canada. Jean-Damien a parcouru l’Amérique du Nord pendant cinq saisons en se produisant dans des spectacles de ski et des événements spéciaux.

Depuis qu’il s’est retiré du sport, Jean-Damien est devenu un expert en sports d’action. Il a été consultant en design de performances pour le Cirque du Soleil (Crystal, Volta, cérémonie d’ouverture des Jeux Panaméricains) et pour 7 Doigts de la Main, ainsi que dénicheur de talents et entraîneur spécialisé dans les cascades, la moto (FMX, trial, stunt), les arts martiaux, l’acrobatie, le BMX, le roller et le patinage sur glace.

Jean-Damien travaille également à la gestion technique, du site et de la logistique d’événements de renommée internationale tels que Les Etoiles du Sport, Les Vieilles Charrues, Les Francofolies et la Coupe du Monde de Ski Freestyle.
