Pleasance Announces Its Biggest London Comedy Season

Kickstarting 2025, the Pleasance Theatre Trust will present a record-breaking new comedy season at their Islington home, with over 70 unmissable work-in-progress comedy shows including brand new material from Dara Ó Briain, Sindhu Vee and Chloe Petts, plus loads more. Comedy fans will be flocking to the Pleasance this Spring, as they break their own record, hosting more acts than ever before in the eleventh year of their annual work-in-progress season.

Dara Ó Briain (Mock the Week; Robot Wars; Blockbusters) will launch the season with warm-ups for his upcoming global tour, Re:Creation(16th January), described by the Guardian as a ‘masterclass in intelligent, no-frills stand-up’. Straight from the success of her US tour, global talent Sindhu Vee (Sex Education; Feel Good; Starstruck) will flex her signature sharp wit as she presents her new material on family life (8th February). As seen on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Perrier Award nominee Glenn Moore will offer London audiences a never-before-seen hour of material (20th February).

Fresh from another smash hit Edinburgh run, Chloe Petts (Have I Got News For You; Richard Osman’s House of Games; Hypothetical) develops her hilariously personal routines surrounding sex and relationships in her newest show (25th -26th February). The Guardian’s ‘breakout comedy act of 2023’ Jazz Emu (Knight Fever, Edinburgh Fringe; You Shouldn’t Have, Edinburgh Fringe) returns to the Pleasance with Perfect Work(24th -26th April),providing an audiovisual hour of new musings and odes. Internet sensation Josh Berry (2.4 million likes on TikTok) will deconstruct the masculine experience in warm up shows for his new tour, Best Man(29th – 30th January), tackling everything from progressive stag dos to gay panic.

Pierre Novellie’s latest solo comedy hour at the Pleasance (12th February) comes hot off his support on Frank Skinner’s West End run and three Chortle Award nominations. Irish comedian de jour Alison Spittle (New Stuff,Edinburgh Fringe; Soup,UK Tour) will offer her unique take on misogyny and M&Ms at the Pleasance with Fat Bitch(6th March). As seen on Britain’s Got Talent, Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News for Youand 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown,award-winning comedian Nabil Abdulrashid will bring his ‘sardonic intelligence and sharp eye for the absurdities of racial discourse’ (The Guardian) to London (31st January).

The 2025 Comedy Season also features performances from a host of award-winning comedians. Presenting a riotous hour of character comedy, Joe Kent-Walters (Best Newcomer, Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2024) will return as Frankie Monroe(22nd February). Winner of So You Think You’re Funny? 2024 Alana Jackson will delve into the cultural differences between Scotland and England through her sharp, unapologetic style (3rd April).  And offering a surreal multimedia odyssey, winner of the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year Award 2024 (and direct from the Pleasance’s very own Comedy Reserve) Rohan Sharma will share his debut hour (21st March).

Returning to Pleasance following triumphant debuts at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, expect fresh solo hours from exciting newcomers. Another Best Newcomer nominee (and Comedy Reserve alum) Jin Hao Li will perform his highly anticipated new show (11th February). After the success of her smash-hit debut show Skin Pigeon,Lorna Rose Treen will perform brand new character comedy (30th January & 3rd April), promising an entertaining hour from the comedian dubbed ‘one of the most exciting young comics around’ by The Daily Telegraph.

After the sell-out success of her hysterical period parody Clementine,Rosalie Minnitt will also be testing some brand-new material at Pleasance London (8th February). Andrew Doherty will present his new horror-comedy, Woman Lawyer(8th March), brimming with music, wigs, montages and high voltage cabling. After the success of her critically acclaimed debut hour Pink Tinge(nominated for Best Newcomer 2023),Lindsey Santoro will return to the Pleasance London with hilarious new material (29th March). Katie Norris will also perform her latest work (16th April) following Farm Fatale, her sell-out semi-autobiographical musical extravaganza that received a NextUp Biggest Award in Comedy nomination.

This phenomenal line up will also highlight some of the UK’s rapidly rising comedy stars, including Chortle Student Comedy Award finalist Sharon Wanjohi in her admirable attempt to out silly the increasingly pressing issues in adult life (27th March). Following her West End New Act of the Year win in 2023, Shalaka Kurup discusses her quest to convince her therapist that she needs a diagnosis in her debut hour (4th April). Kyrah Gray’s homecoming to the Pleasance (13th February) is brimming with charisma, as she unpacks her experiences on the dating scene. After racking up a whopping 100 million views online, ITV2’s Stand-up Sketch Showsensation Sam Williams will examine the complexities of life as a queer person of faith in Noli Me Tangere(14th February). All four have also performed with the Pleasance in Edinburgh as part of their prestigious Comedy Reserve.

Co-writer of Chicken Shop Date,Dom McGovern vehemently rejects self-acceptance in Stuns in New Photo,and muses upon rock climbing, Miss Piggy and Glee(5th March).Expect every great duo in history from Soft Play Area’s debut double-act comedy hour as Maria Telnikoff and Vidya Divakaran star in a time travelling hour of nonsense, shenanigans and lots of dance breaks (12th April).
