Peggy Donck Appointed as Director of the National Circus Arts Center (CNAC)
The Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin has approved the appointment of Peggy Donck as director of the National Circus Arts Center (CNAC), following the management board’s decision on October 21, 2021 under the chairmanship of Frédéric Durnerin.
Peggy Donck is the production manager of XY Company. Founded in 2005 by Abdel Senhadji and Mahmoud Louertani, the company has become an artistic benchmark in the landscape of French and international acrobatics.
Peggy Donck was previously production director of “Un Loup pour l’Homme” and of the AOC collective, as well as general secretary of “Hors les Murs”, the National Resource Center for Circus and Street Arts.
Peggy’s vision of art, her understanding of the issues facing the entire circus industry and her knowledge of artists from all disciplines will enable her to offer emerging circus artists the tools to create the aesthetics of the circus of tomorrow.
Peggy Donck will take office on January 1, 2022 following Gérard Fasoli, director of the CNAC since 2013 who has asserted his retirement rights. Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin salutes Fasoli’s contribution to upholding CNAC’s high level of artistic and educational standards.
CNAC, created in 1985 by the Ministry of Culture, is a higher education, resource and research establishment dedicated to contemporary circus.
Nearly 400 artists representing 35 nationalities have graduated from the excellent training provided by CNAC’s higher education school, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ENSAC). Today these artists are major players on the international artistic scene.
A center for lifelong learning, as well as a resource and research center of international reference, CNAC upholds the values of the Circassian spirit, including rigor, self-control, the sense of collective belonging, and respect for others.
CNAC is an institution rooted in its territory and open to artists, researchers or professionals in the circus arts and performing arts as well as to the general public. Its ambition is to be at the forefront of educational, artistic, scientific, and technical innovation in order to be at the service of its sector, and more broadly, the performing arts.
