Latest Opportunities in Circus Education

This week we share a few opportunities in circus education and a great opportunity from the circus school in Spain, Carampa, for current seniors or recent graduates looking for performing and creative opportunities.

San Francisco’s Circus Center, a non-profit organization and the oldest circus school on the West Coast, seeks a full-time salaried Director of Training and Education.

The Director of Training and Education must be a visionary circus artist with a deep, practical knowledge of circus training, a strong history of professional performing experience (preferably international), and a passion for circus arts education.

The ability to teach one or more circus disciplines at the highest level is desirable; however, most important is the ability to work collaboratively in order to invent an integrated vision for the school’s training programs. This is a full-time permanent position located in San Francisco, with some remote work possible.

Summer camps still have a few last-minute opportunities for instructors who have the capacity to teach over the summer.

Camp Louise is a resident summer camp for girls aged 7-17, located in Cascade, Maryland. Campers at Camp Louise learn new skills, grow as individuals, challenge themselves, and make friendships that last a lifetime. The camp has been offering aerial arts for several summers now and it has become a very popular activity area. As such, they are looking to continue developing their aerial arts program. They want to work on silks and slings, and teach basic-to-intermediate techniques.

Camp Louise is looking for an Aerial Arts Instructor, who would be responsible for creating and leading age-appropriate and skill-appropriate lessons for the various groups that will attend the aerial arts activity area.

The Aerial Arts instructor would be required to live on-site for the duration of the position. Room and board are provided as part of the job. The position runs from June 17 to August 14, 2022.

Long Lake Camp for the Arts, located in the spectacular Adirondack Park of upstate New York, is a unique summer performing and fine arts camp that offers children activities in circus arts, theater, fine arts, rock bands, dance, music, comedy, and film, with fun sports and a stunning waterfront. As well, the camp produces three flying circus shows each summer with casts of about 60 to 70 children performers.

Right now, the Long Lake Camp Flying Circus is looking to hire aerial and ground acts instructors, including a trapeze catcher, to come and share their passion for circus with campers of ages 8 to 16.  They are looking for circus teachers/performers/coaches who can teach multiple acts throughout the entire duration of the camp, from June 21 to August 29, 2022.

Carampa invites current seniors and circus school graduates from the classes of 2019-2021 to apply for this year’s CRECE program. Carampa covers travel, lodging, food, and production expenses for the program. Stipend, per diem, or any other form of additional salary is not provided.
