NECCA's Mission: Provide high quality circus arts training for students and artists while facilitating greater access and programming to everyone

NECCA is an internationally recognized circus school known for outstanding physical and creative programming. NECCA provides a high level of professional circus training for students who aspire to be performers, is committed to excellent entry level training and access for those in our community with limited options, attracts visiting guest artists and instructors from around the world and offers inspiring circus performances. NECCA's custom built circus Trapezium hosts expanded programming with height for swinging trapeze and flying trapeze, trampoline and tramp wall with a foam pit, and superior teaching and performance facilities.

NECCA is within walking distance of downtown Brattleboro, the artistic and energetic hub of Southern Vermont. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of New England and with bus or train access to New York, Boston and Montreal, NECCA is a destination with something for everyone.

ProTrack: Mastery of Circus Arts in Performance

Preparatory Program

The Leading Edge in Circus Education NECCA’s ProTrack has been creating professional circus artists for over a decade. It is the longest Professional Training Program for circus artists in the United States, with graduates performing with Cirque du Soliel, Les 7 Doigts, Pippin, Cirkus Cirkor, Cirque Mechanics, and an array of touring shows, international festivals, cabarets and cruise ships. Students from all over the world come to NECCA for training, expertise, and guidance and, as a result, our graduates continue to fill the world stages. Our award-winning coaching staff makes all of the difference. Here you’ll find masters of the field working with students on every level, challenging them to become better artists and athletes, and guiding them each step of the way. NECCA’s ProTrack program has trained some of the industry’s most accomplished performers as well as many of the other coaches around the country. Our proven methods are apparent in the shear number of working artists that call NECCA their first home. Residency

Other

This Residency option allows students to visit NECCA to train for short or long periods, with a minimum of one month at a time. The base fee covers the following: - 1 to 5 days per week of assigned training space - one 1/2 hour liaison meeting per month with the Program Director Elsie Smith that you can use any way you wish. Get help with act creation, scheduling and planning, professional development, costume questions, injury prevention, web site review, etc. - priority information every month about guest instructors, workshop series and other events at NECCA. - unlimited access to Members Only/Open Studio trainings at all NECCA studios (generally 7 days per week) https://www.necenterforcircusarts.org/learn/custom/

Session Classes for Youth & Adults

Recreational Programs

NECCA session classes are a great way to expand your skills and get stronger with classes that allow you to get in the air, flip upside down, and challenge yourself on a regular basis. We offer a variety of levels in a variety of class types - appropriate for the absolute beginner to the professional looking to add to their skills. It's a great way to have a regular practice with a group of people who are at the same level and a coach who can track your progress over time and help you reach your goals and make new ones. Flying Trapeze (recreational & Fly Team)

Recreational Programs

Join us on our brand new indoor flying trapeze! Our seasoned instructors carefully guide beginning students through all of the steps, from taking off from the platform, through hanging from the trapeze bar, to landing in the net—all while in safety lines. Soon you’ll be working on hanging by your knees and more fun trapeze tricks, including being caught by one of your instructors! The FlyTeam program is for students excited and committed to focusing on their flying trapeze skills. Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to help you develop the most effective training techniques, both on the rig and off, with classes in the air, on the ground and on the trampoline. Flying classes will focus on technique and form. Specialized conditioning and strength training classes will target the explosive strength necessary for flying. Trampoline classes will be used to practice acrobatic skills and develop aerial and body awareness for high level flying trapeze. Summer Training

Summer Programs

Make circus your focus for a few days, weeks, or the entire summer! Enjoy the amenities of our custom built Trapezium and all of the outdoor activities a Vermont summer provides. Come as you are and our individualized programs will take you to the next level. SUMMER INTENSIVE: Push yourself physically while diving deep into the world of circus arts in this five week immersive training program. PERFORMANCE BOOT CAMP: Grow your technical skills, artistry, and stage presence as you create your own individual act with our renowned coaches and collaborate on a full ensemble show. AERIAL SKILLS WEEK: Select from a main focus on trapeze, aerial fabric, lyra or rope, then pick from a variety of other aerials and circus skills for your other two training areas each day. CIRCUS SKILLS WEEK: Select from a main focus area of trampoline/tramp wall, hand balancing or wheel arts, then pick from a variety of other circus skills for your other two training times each day.
