We Celebrated World Circus Day Online in 2020
On Saturday, April 18th, CircusTalk celebrated the annual circus holiday known as World Circus Day with CircusTalk Online with a gathering of circus performers and fans. Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson hosted the event, sharing his spirit of optimism about the circus world with all, and giving people the opportunity to share their act, their circus skills, their music and even their own hopes and concerns about circus moving on in a post coronavirus world.
Iverson read a letter from the Director of Fédération Mondiale du Cirque, Zsuzsanna Mata about the origins and spirit behind World Circus Day. We shared the link to the video that Circus Ambassador, István Újhelyi, Member of the European Parliament in collaboration with the Fédération Mondiale du Cirque and the European Circus Associations produced for the 2020 celebration.
During the meeting there were some fun performances and lots of hopeful messages shared. After the celebration, which culminated in a moving song sung by Iverson, and a group thank you from our participants to the essential workers around the world, we encouraged everyone to pop over to the other World Circus Day celebrations at AYCO and En Piste.
