American Songbook Association’s Third Annual Gala Honors Stephen Schwartz
The Oscar, Grammy, and Tony-winning composer and lyricist of “Wicked,” “Pippin,” “Godspell,” and more at New York’s Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center – Monday, May 9 at 7:30 PM
The American Songbook Association (ASA), along with Broadway performers Christine Andreas, Liz Callaway, Jason Graae, Sally Mayes, Debbie Gravitte, Ann Harada, Paul Shaffer, Rupert Holmes, Jim Brochu, John Bucchino, Kurt Peterson, Ben Vereen, Jessica Hendy, Kelli Rabke, John Boswell, David LaMarr, Anthony Murphy, Darnell White, and Teri Ralston, joined the lineup of their Third Annual Gala to honor Stephen Schwartz on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Schwartz – the Oscar, Grammy, and Tony-winning composer and lyricist ofWicked,Pippin,Godspell, and more – received the 2022 ASA Lifetime Achievement Award. The event played to a packed house at the Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center (129 West 67th Street, NYC).

Also presented that evening was the first-ever Bill Sensenbrenner Dream Maker Award to James Brent White.
In attendance were ASA’s Executive Director & Director of Education and Outreach, Carolyn Montgomery, Vice President Craig Pomranz, Secretary Robin Westle, Board of Directors Norman S. Drubner & Keith Meritz, and Treasurer & Editor-in-Chief of Cabaret Scenes magazine, Frank Dain.
