Comedian Rosie Jones Announced as Special Guest on ‘The Show People Podcast’ Live Recording
Award-winning British comedian Rosie Jones (Out of Order, Comedy Central; Am I A R*tard, Channel 4; Pushers, Channel 4) is set to join Queer Theatre’s Artistic Director Andrew Keates for an upcoming live recording of The Show People Podcast. Hosted at the Two Brewers in Clapham, Queer Theatre’s The Show People Podcast will celebrate Jones’ extraordinary career in an insightful conversation exploring comedy, disability and representation within the industry.
Rosie Jones has become one of Britain’s most distinctive and beloved comedians, known for her razor-sharp wit and fearless honesty. Alongside her award-winning stand-up career, she has established as a familiar presence on UK television, appearing on The Last Leg, 8 Out of 10 Cats, QI and many more. She has also fronted her own Comedy Central series Out of Order, starred in Channel 4’s Am I A R*tard, and led the travel series, Mission: Accessible and Trip Hazard. Jones is also the creator and star of Channel 4’s comedy drama Pushers, the six-part series adapted from her original short Disability Benefits.
Her acting credits include primetime dramas such as Silent Witness, Casualty and Call the Midwife. Jones is also an accomplished writer across several mediums. She co-wrote Channel 4’s Pushers, contributed to Netflix’s Sex Education, and is the author of the best-selling children’s book series Amazing Edie Eckhart and the non-fiction book Moving On Up.
Joining Andrew on The Show People Podcast, Rosie will reflect on her career in comedy and the arts. As a comedian with cerebral palsy, she will discuss incorporating her experiences into her comedic style and share candid reflections on how disability has shaped both her personal and professional life.
Artistic Director, Andrew Keates comments, Few have done more giving voice and visibility of those with specific needs and disabilities in this country than my friend Rosie Jones. She remains a pioneer of so many marginalised communities, telling her stories both with honesty and, of course, her sublime sense of humour. She rightly plays enormous venues all over the country, and for one special night, I can’t wait for a lucky audience to get up close and personal and discover the many lessons she’s learned as a comedienne, actor, and activist
Taking place every month in front of a live audience at the Two Brewers, The Show People Podcast welcomes a new special guest for each episode, making every show exciting, inspiring and insightful. The evening will include an interval and complimentary access to the venue’s cabaret and DJ event after the recording.
Recent guests of the podcast include West End legend Kerry Ellis, Olivier Award winning Jack Holden, Star Trek star Marina Sirtis and Queer Theatre patron Sir Stephen Fry and Sir Ian McKellen.
All profits from the night will support Queer Theatre’s work across its wide-ranging programme, including Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ people, OutCast showcases, the Queer Play Reading Club, Luvvie: The Patry for Queer People In The Performing Arts, Walk & Talks for queer creatives in the countryside, parties, and new productions.
