New Release–Movie Circus Kid Documents Life of Pickle Family Circus Members

Sundance Now, a subscription streaming service, is set to air a new documentary called Circus Kid about the life of Lorenzo Pisoni and the Pickle Family Circus. Although the film was released in 2016, and was an ‘official selection’ at a handful of film festivals, it is just now released to the public on a wider scale.

The film had an impressive crew of backers from the entertainment world, from John Hamm to Daniel Radcliffe, and an even more exotic cast of circus dignitaries, from Larry and Peggy Pisoni and other members of the Pickle Family Circus (Bill Irwin, Hovey Burgess), to Lorenzo and his sister Gypsy Snyder, both of whom have stellar careers to this day in circus and on Broadway (Gypsy as a founder of 7 Fingers and a director, and Lorenzo who eventually retired from circus to take up acting, and physical comedy directing).

This documentary  is sure to be a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the nouveau American Circus in its infancy and a case study in what it means to grow up in a circus family with all of those bumps, bruises and triumphs. It is available for streaming starting December 21st.
