In Loving Memory of Brian Liddicoat, Celebrated Circus Advocate and Showman

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Brian Liddicoat, a beloved member of the Circus Ring of Fame Foundation and a cherished figure in the circus arts community. Brian passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brian’s journey in the performing arts began after attending the University of Utah. He became deeply involved in show business, eventually managing numerous Broadway touring shows. He later served as the manager of the Big Apple Circus and Barnum’s Kaleidoscape for many years, bringing joy and wonder to countless audiences.
Upon retiring, Brian continued to give back to the industry he loved. He joined the board of the Circus Ring of Fame Foundation and served as chairman from 2015 to 2017. His dedication to the foundation was unwavering, even after moving to Tennessee in 2018, where he assisted his son-in-law with a stage tech firm near Nashville. Brian was also actively involved with the Showfolks of Sarasota, serving as club president and making significant contributions to the community.
Bill Powell, President of the Circus Ring of Fame, paid tribute to Brian’s impact, saying, “The Circus Ring of Fame lost a spoke in the wagon wheel. Brian was a friend, mentor, and true supporter of the circus arts. He helmed the foundation with grace and continued to contribute from afar. Brian had the unique ability to craft concise, timeless, and profound biographies for our plaques, ensuring that each story was perfectly told. He was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a helping hand. Brian was an original showman, a humble man, and he will be missed by many.”
Brian’s family shared that he had been battling prostate cancer since 2016 and was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 cancer in 2023. He bravely underwent aggressive chemotherapy but chose to spend his final days in home hospice. Brian passed away the same night he returned home from the hospital, surrounded by his family, finding peace and comfort in his final moments.
Brian Liddicoat would have celebrated his 80th birthday on September 27th. He lived a life full of adventure and joy, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. He was known for his warmth, love, and the countless friendships he nurtured around the world.
Brian’s contributions to the American circus arts community and his gentle spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
