Ess Hödlmoser – Performance Artist and Author: “If you’re going to make it as an artist, you have to get good at being uncomfortable” (StageLync Podcast Ep.46)

Ess Hödlmoser (they/he) is a Canadian performance artist and author. Ess’s award–winning circus acts have been shared on international stages like the 40th and 44th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, France’s Got Talent, the Moulin Rouge, and more.
On screen, you might catch Ess as ‘CINDY’ on “The Boys”, ‘S’ on “Station 11”, and ‘M’ on “Motherland: Fort Salem”; or performing various horrifying bendy feats as a stunt performer (“Frankenstein” [2025], “What We Do In The Shadows”, and many more).
Copies of Ess’s two coffee table books (“Slow Circus: BARBETTE” [2024] and “Slow Circus: VACUUM” [2020]) and growing zine catalogue can be found on bookshelves and libraries in every corner of the globe (even Antarctica!)
