A Call for Proposals for International Market of Contemporary Circus

Montréal has so much influence in the contemporary circus world. There is the Cirque du Soleil headquarters, located in circus city next to Tohu (the great performance in the round structure which hosts circus shows all year). Right next door is North America’s premiere circus school École Nationale de Cirque. It should be no surprise then that Montréal also hosts one of the world’s most cutting edge contemporary circus festivals, Montréal Complètement Cirque. With the week and a half long festival each July, comes the gathering of professionals who facilitate circus tours around the world, the programmers, the directors and the festival planners.

The third annual edition of the International Market of Contemporary Circus (also known as the  Marché International de Cirque Contemporain or MICC) will run July 10th-13th, concurrent with Montréal Complètement Cirque again this year. They are sending out the call for proposals to artistic teams who want to showcase touring shows to audiences of schedulers, festival planners, residency and venue directors.

Last year, programmers came from 14 countries to network, take part in panels and lectures and to see acts from around the world. There were more than 275 professionals in attendance.

In addition to a 15 minute presentation of their work, selected circus companies can participate in the tête-à-tête (speed dating) talk with interested professionals.
