$40M+ Revival of “The House of Dancing Water”

The highly anticipated return of “The House of Dancing Water,” one of Macau’s most iconic theatrical productions, has been confirmed for May, with tickets going on sale to the public starting March 10. This spectacular revival, staged at its original venue in the City of Dreams resort, has undergone a multi-million-dollar reinvestment to bring it back to life.
The original production, created by the late Franco Dragone for Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd., had been the longest-running and most popular non-gaming attraction in Macau before it was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, after over US$40 million in redevelopment costs, the show is set to make a grand return, reaffirming Melco’s commitment to enriching Macau’s entertainment landscape.
Speaking at a media event on Thursday, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts, emphasized the significance of “The House of Dancing Water” in the region, noting that with over 4,000 past performances, the show had solidified itself as a premier entertainment experience both regionally and globally. He reiterated that its revival is part of Melco’s broader initiative to enhance non-gaming tourism, further boosting Macau’s appeal as a cultural destination.
A source familiar with the production confirmed that substantially more than US$40 million has been allocated to its relaunch. The investment is not primarily aimed at supporting the casino operations but rather at reinforcing the resort’s reputation as a top-tier entertainment hub, with the show previously drawing in around 2,000 visitors per day.
This refreshed edition will once again be led by Guiliano Peparini, who returns as Artistic Director, having worked on the production for several years prior to its suspension. Peparini acknowledged the immense challenge of reviving the show, which features a diverse ensemble of performers from across the globe, but described his deep connection to the production as a “love affair”—an artistic journey that continues to evolve.
Adding to the excitement, Anna Robb, the show’s Executive Producer and CEO of StageLync, shared her perspective on the unique experience of revisiting and reimagining the production: “There is something quite unique and special about being part of the original creation of “The House of Dancing Water” and returning 15 years later to remount and reimagine this iconic show. In today’s world, where no one is investing in or creating a resident show on this scale, I am honored to be part of such a theatrical endeavor.”
With a fully renovated theater space within the City of Dreams resort, this latest iteration of The House of Dancing Water promises to captivate audiences once again, blending breathtaking visuals, extraordinary acrobatics, and an unparalleled storytelling experience.
As one of the most ambitious and visually stunning productions in the world, its return marks a major milestone for Macau’s cultural and entertainment revival.
