Description:JOB TITLE: Stagehand 6BREPORTS TO: Director of Production FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt COMPENSATION: $29.76 per hour UNION: IATSE Local 2 LOCATION: 170 N Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601 Position Summary The Goodman Theatre seeks a Stagehand to be an essential member of our Show Run Crew Staff for our 8-show season, the annual production of A Christmas Carol, New Stages Festival, and various special events. The primary work location will be the Owen Theatre, with potential to support the Albert Theatre crew when possible. Responsibilities Collaborate with Stage Management, Production Staff, Directors, Actors, and other Run Crew members during technical rehearsals, understudy rehearsals, and performances to meet production goals. Lead any additional Owen Run Crew during tech rehearsals and performances. Preset, run, maintain, and repair show elements throughout the performance run. Communicate backstage and run-of-show needs or issues to the appropriate Production Staff. Assist in organizing, cleaning, and maintaining backstage workspaces, the prop workroom, and theatre storage areas. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 2 years of professional run crew experience. Proven leadership ability with other crew members during show runs. Knowledge of prop and scenery construction, modification, and fabrication. Experience with stage firearms and weaponry is a plus. Strong understanding of backstage theatrical practices. Collaborative, punctual, detail-oriented, and well-organized, with a positive attitude. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to frequent changes in priorities. Capable of lifting, pushing, or maneuvering up to 50 lbs., alone or with assistance. Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights.
