VDK Dance Company are looking for 1 Chicago based dancer for a performance of ‘An Invocation to Aphrodite’ at the National Hellenic Museum on the 14th of February. Applicants must also be available for rehearsals 9th- 13th February location tbc. Paid. An Invocation to Aphrodite is an immersive contemporary dance piece exploring Sappho’s relationship with Aphrodite. The piece is inspired by Sappho’s poetry and life, it will explore themes of love, eroticism and feminism as well as the impact her work had on the audience of the time. We will explore how her poems may have been performed using dance, song and text to bring her ideas and lyricism to life once again.
