Caravan, the international youth and social circus network of schools from across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, has recently announced that their General Assembly elected a new president during its fall meeting.

Taina Kopra, founder and artistic director of Sorin Sirkus, was appointed as the next president of Caravan.

Congratulations to Taina!

Taina will take over in January 2022 from Ulla Hokkanen, Executive Creative Director of Galway Community Circus, who acted as an interim president for the past year.

For 36 years, Taina has supervised and been responsible for the pedagogic work at Sorin Sirkus. Not only has she been a circus teacher and an artistic director– she’s also been a visionary, developing and making paths for Finnish youth and social circus education. She has received several awards and acknowledgments for her youth work, performances, and significant work for circuses in Tampere and all of Finland.

Since Sorin Sirkus helped to co-found Caravan back in 2008, Taina has played a crucial role within the Caravan network and its Board.
