Shakespeare Week 2026: Verona’s Contemporary Theatre Hub

From April 19 to 29, between Teatro Satiro OFF and the historic city center of Verona, Shakespeare Week returns for its 12th edition with a clear vision: to transform the city into an international laboratory dedicated to William Shakespeare.

Here, Shakespeare is not simply celebrated: he is explored, reimagined, made contemporary. Not just a festival, but the Italian hub for Shakespearean culture—where performance, education, and research converge into a single ecosystem.

An unmissable event that brings international artists, directors, and theatre companies to Verona, turning the city into a European reference point for contemporary theatre.

Two flagship productions embody this vision:

“Two Sisters. Shakespeare’s Daughters” On stage April 23 at 7:45 PM at Teatro Satiro OFF.

An international production by English Theatre Milan, Green Shakespeare, and Stratford Theatre Company, written by Margaret Rose.

An intimate and powerful English-language performance that imagines Shakespeare’s daughters, giving voice to a story never told—moving between Stratford-upon-Avon, London, and Verona in a single contemporary theatrical narrative.

“Macbeth Solo” On stage Wednesday, April 29 at 7:45 PM at Teatro Satiro OFF.

Written and performed by Paul Goodwin. Produced by The Shakespeare Edit.

A multi-award-winning original adaptation, presented in New York, London, and numerous Italian theatres, including Milano Off Fringe Festival 2025.

A stripped-down monodrama that distills Shakespeare’s tragedy into an intense and vertiginous journey inside the mind of its protagonist.

Both performances are in English.

Shakespeare Week confirms itself as a cultural hub capable of attracting artists, students, and audiences from across Europe, strengthening Verona’s role as a key destination for contemporary Shakespearean theatre.
