Mittelyoung Announces Open Call for Emerging Artists

Mittelyoung, the vibrant platform for young artists, is now accepting applications for its 2025 edition! Open to emerging talents under 30 from Central Europe and the Balkans, this festival serves as a launchpad for fresh and bold artistic expressions in theatre, dance, music, and circus.
In its fifth edition, Mittelyoung will showcase nine selected projects from May 15–18, 2025, in Cividale del Friuli, Italy. A panel of under-30 curators, working in collaboration with Mittelfest and regional cultural institutions, will evaluate applications and curate an exciting lineup. Following this stage, three standout projects will be invited to perform at the prestigious Mittelfest Tabù, taking place from July 18–27, 2025.
The Mittelyoung 2025 open call is available to individual artists and ensembles under the age of 30, based in eligible countries such as Italy, Austria, Germany, Greece, Poland, Serbia, and others. To be considered, projects must be unreleased in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with special priority given to works that have never been staged in Italy. Additionally, all performances should align with the festival’s 2025 theme, Tabù, which delves into the hidden, the sacred, and the unspoken boundaries of society.
Selected projects will receive up to €4,000 in co-production support, covering performance fees, travel, and accommodation. Artists progressing to Mittelfest Tabù will receive additional funding.
Interested artists must submit an application form along with a project description, biography, and technical details. Applications are open now and can be submitted via www.mittelfest.org.
Mittelyoung offers a unique opportunity for young artists to engage with international audiences, gain professional visibility, and push creative boundaries. If you’re ready to take your work to the next level, don’t miss this chance—apply now!
