In Center Ring presents the regal Joseph Pinzon. The aspiring theater artist turned soaring circus star and producer. In this episode, Joseph talks about his seamless entry into the circus arts, from psychology major at UCLA, with a love for theater to a budding aerialist at one of Canada’s premier circus programs. He shares the joys and woes of learning his craft, as well as, the heights and depths of his amazing career with the likes of Cirque du Soleil. He touches on the biases experienced and the undeniable impact of representation for artists of color in the performing arts. He takes us through the process that led him from performing artist to company owner and producer of Short Round Productions, where he created the acclaimed Filament.
