“Fleabag” Meets “Modern Love” in Solo Romcom “He Wants Kids, She Doesn’t” at Edinburgh Fringe 2026

Hailing from Hong Kong, the hilarious and heartfelt one-person romcom He Wants Kids, She Doesn’t will make its European premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2026 from August 15-22 (except 18) at Just the Tonic at The Subway (Venue 27).

Following a sold-out performance at The Aftermath in Hong Kong in May, the show follows a couple in their late 20s as they desperately navigate the ultimate modern relationship dilemma: to be or not to be parents?

Blending razor-sharp comedy with genuine emotional depth, Tsoi plays the full cast of comedic characters on stage with unflinching honesty and tear-jerking humour in a fast-paced 35-minute solo performance.

This witty one-woman show stands out from the 3000+ shows at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe as a result of Tsoi’s “tour-de-force” solo performance, which elevates the original concept and layered storytelling through a young Hong Kong couple’s lens.

Through sheer virtuosity, Tsoi embodies every character with such depth and nuance that the illusion of a full cast is flawless.

The show’s hilarious imitation of relationship dynamics and relatable quirks make it the perfect show for an early afternoon pick-me-up. Whether you’re childfree, or a parent, or undecided, this show will have something for you. And the best part? You’ll make it in time for happy hour.

He Wants Kids, She Doesn’t is directed by Matt Folliott (former cast member of The Second City National Touring Company), and written and performed by Emma Tsoi.

Tickets are available now via edfringe.com and the Just The Tonic Box Office.
