Good Luck, Cathrine Frost!: Norway’s Award-Winning Theatre Sensation Debuts at Festival Fringe 2024

Story – Supporting Paragraph: An overnight smash-hit success in Norway with an ever-growing cult following and Finalist for the Hedda Award 2023 as Best Theatre Play, the award-winning Det Andre Teatret will bring their hilarious and existential theatre show Good Luck, Cathrine Frost! to the Festival Fringe 2024 to talk philosophy, birth, and public health – starring actor and creative Cathrine Frost herself.

Following a brilliant short run in London this Spring and playing to sold-out houses in Norway since first opening in 2022, Good Luck, Cathrine Frost! is the comedy-theatre show we’ve all long-needed to understand the actual REALITY OF LIFE and giving birth. Enmeshing blistering humour with seriousness and poignant meditations on life, the unique one woman show tells the self-experienced story of Cathrine and her encounter with the desire to have children, her dramatic – but not unusual – birth experience where she and her baby almost died, and her encounters with and in the world afterwards.

Cathrine Frost Andersen is an actor, improviser, and nurse. As an early member of the ensemble at Det Andre Teatret, which she helped start in 2011, she plays in a number of different improvised performances throughout the year, both on the theatre’s own stage in Oslo and out on tour. Cathrine is part of Det Andre Teatret’s longest-living improv group Improtent and she has a long acting career behind her. She has, among other things, been involved in the theatre production Vildanden at the festivals in Bergen with Vegard Winge directing, and a residence in Kautokeino at the Sami National Theater Beaivvás. She has participated in various theatre festivals at home and abroad, and is also on the TV screen now and then. In autumn 2022, she debuted with her first solo performance Good Luck, Cathrine Frost!. The show was a finalist to the prestigious Hedda Award 2023 asBest Theatre Play.

Det Andre Teatret opened in 2011 as Oslo’s first theatre venue with a focus on improvised theatre with a playful and rambling theatre style in dialogue with its audience. Since then, the theatre has distinguished itself both nationally and internationally with performances and performers who, through improvisation, hunt for new, funny and different ways to tell stories and meet the audience. Through performances in the theatre house at Lilleborg in Oslo, and extensive touring activities, Det Andre Teatret performs for over 50,000 spectators a year.

Celebrating its first full-length English debut, Cathrine artfully breaks down our view of what it means to be a mother and how we relate to the massive act of being born this August.

Good Luck, Cathrine Frost! will play from 31 Jul-25 August (Assembly George Square Studios, Studio One). The show is supported by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Performing Arts Hub Norway and Norwegian Embassy in the UK.
