StageLync Podcast Ep. 72: Fanny Coindet on Crafting New Pathways in Performance

In this episode of the StageLync Podcast, I sit down with Fanny Coindet — a choreographer, stage director, and former performer whose career bridges the worlds of dance, circus, and fashion spectacle. From the aquatic stage of The House of Dancing Water to the glittering runways of Fashion Freak Show by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Fanny has carved a path defined by curiosity, adaptability, and bold artistic vision.

Fanny Coindet has directed students from the École nationale des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois and has been associate director of Fashion Freak Show since 2019. In 2021, she earned her State Diploma in Contemporary Dance, and in 2023, she founded her own dance company, recently completing her first piece, Ecchymoses.

We talk about her early drive to choreograph at 19, the unexpected injury that became her gateway into directing, and how she’s learned to shape major productions around performers rather than fitting them into boxes. Fanny also opens up about founding her company, navigating the steep learning curve of production and funding, and embracing new tools like social media as part of her creative evolution.

This is a conversation about growth—on stage, behind the scenes, and in life—as Fanny prepares to step into a new chapter of artistry and motherhood without compromising her creative fire.
