MAKING SENSEI OF THE FOOL ^expired

Mayday’s celebrations are rooted in the pagan past, especially in the Gaelic festival of Beltane, which defines the arrival of summer: many other countries also celebrate May with maypoles, dancing and other local myths and folklore. Then in the 19th century, socialism began to define May 1st as a day for workers worldwide to stand for a more equal society, with better wages and work conditions ...and then even more recently the word Mayday became tthe international code for disaster relief for ship captains and airline pilots, Mayday! I need help! from the French m'aider, which sounds similar to that English word. Mayday.
Since around 2012, which heralded the end of the 26,000 year cycle of the Mayan calendar, the turmoil in our world seems to be proceeding towards biblical chaos at an ever accelerating pace. Every day our world seems irreversibly more impersonal, dangerously digital & less free.
It’s time to act to bring a reunification of man- and woman-kind: to re-ignite a synergy of connection between people, a revival of personal consciousness with an alignment of principles and ethics in this ever-increasing jungle of confusion and distraction.
The fact that we have chosen Mayday as arrival date for such a workshop is no coincidence. To have a theatre lab in nature at the height of Spanish springtime can only help the power of creation to flourish even more. Especially at ARTmósfera Residencia Cultural where the vibe and philosophy fit perfectly to enhance it all even further.
Theatre & children’s games, movements inspired by nature, mime, aikido techniques, tribal rites and rituals, co-operative exercises, team building, various modes of improvisation, sensual and experiential studies to aid with each participant’s inner-work & personal growth, tools to assist in character building, with chance to experiment in public. All will contribute to a theatre lab which will bring great fun and benefits to those involved.
The workshop will indeed bring all of those aspects of Mayday together. Jef & Johnny are also ‘healers’ and innerstand the various reasons and traumas behind the want or need to perform. Such an intensive can bring up all kinds of emotion and should that occur, everyone will be in good hands.
Jef and Johnny may differ in their approaches, age, certain belief systems and career paths, but both retain the vital essence of the Fool as their model of sanity in an insane world. Their mission is a coming together, a return to real communication, the elements of physical and oral expression through humour together with some serious engineering to liberate the imagination.
In addition to performance content, we will be including information on the concept of intent, grounding against EMF radiation, electro-culture, the lies of history, money and its future, ideas on health & nutrition and how to avoid the shackles of fear and media hypnosis to navigate back to our own heart consciousness. We make want to make sense, but more to make SENSEI - master & teacher - of the Fool.
