Zita Nyarady is a performance maker working at the intersection of dance, theatre and circus arts.
She has collaborated on projects with Shakespeare in Action, Guild Festival Theatre, TOlive, Theatre Passe Muraille, Nightwood Theatre, Rhubarb Festival, Prologue for the Performing Arts, Native Earth, Anandam Dance Theatre, CarpetBag Brigade, Theatre Direct and Odin Teatret.
As a clown and physical theatre performer Zita has developed unique interactive physical comedy acts for a variety of cabarets and events.
As co-artistic director of The Grand Salto Theatre Zita's interdisciplinary performances have been presented at Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Toronto Festival of Clowns, Edmonton Play the Fool Festival, Montreal Clown Festival, Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, 60x60, Clay & Paper Theatre, Centaur Theatre, TYT Theatre, Harbourfront Centre and Festivals and Cabarets across Canada and Internationally.
As a circus and movement dramaturge and director, Zita has worked with LookUp Theatre, Femmes du Feu, Shay Erlich, Hercinia Arts Collective as well as providing dramaturgical and directorial support to individual artists. Zita was a Dramatist in Residency at The Heliconian Club in Toronto, interned with Pilobolus Dance Theatre, was an emerging choreographer for Chimera Project Company B, part of Director's Lab North, a past presenter at the Montreal working group on circus research and is in the Cirque du Soleil performer database.
