Wise Fools is a Finnish-South-African all female circus trio. Valpuri Kaarninen and Maria
Peltola started circus in the Finnish Sorin Sirkus while Jaimee Allen started circus in the Zip
Zap Circus in Cape Town in South Africa. All of them received their professional training in
École Superieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Belgium. The Finns Maria and Valpuri
studied triple trapeze and Jaimee cloud swing.
In January 2015 the trio won with their triple trapeze act a silver medal at the prestigious
Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris. It is one of the most prestigious circus
competitions on the field of non-traditional circus and it has been organized already for
over 40 years. During the first years of their career the trio worked with the world famous
Cirque du Soleil in their summer show Scalada in Andorra and did a 7 theatre contract with
Europe’s largest variety company GOP Variete.
In 2017 the Wise Fools created their first outside performance Trashpeze, which is a
performance with comedy and various aerial acrobatic acts. Trashpeze has toured
for example in Japan, Australia, Singapore, South Africa and South-Korea and all around
Europe. They have perfomed on such large-scale festivals like Seoul Street Arts Festival,
Daidogei Festival and La Mercé.
In 2017 The trio founded a bigger company Sirkum Polaris which consists of 11 performers
who all started at Sorin Sirkus youth circus in Finland, later went to professional circus
schools around Europe and worked with the biggest circus companies in the world. Their
first show Kulovalkea has been done in collaboration with Olli Vuorinen and Cie Nuua.
