Founded in 2009 by wife and husband team Aloysia Gavre and Rex Camphuis in Los Angeles, Troupe Vertigo’s spellbinding performances ignite the imagination through stunning physical feats choreographed into works of art. Their commitment to create work that is an eclectic and innovative mix of Circus-Dance-Theater redefines visual space with displays of mental and physical prowess. Troupe Vertigo performances vary widely from custom collaborations with symphonies to arts festivals and performing arts centers. Whomever our audience, we invite them to embark on a poetic and visually enticing journey. Troupe Vertigo has been called upon to collaborate with North American Symphonies, such as with The Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Ottawa Symphony, Houston Symphony and San Diego Symphony to name a few. They created a series of Cirque Ballets originally commissioned by Phoenix Symphony including Swan Lake, Cinderella and a holiday favorite of the Nutcracker. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has been a long time collaborator as well with the a re-imagination of Carmen where we celebrate the melding of circus arts, dance, theater and classical orchestra scores. Troupe Vertigo Performance highlights include LA’s Ford Amphitheater, Nighthawks: a Film Noir Circus, and TEDx at USC. The company presented their all female work Tableaux at the San Francisco International Arts Festival in June of 2018 as well as Viva Fest in Las Vegas and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
