Preparatory Program

The Sellam Circus School’s year-round, full-time Professional Circus Arts Training (PCAT) Prep program is designed for driven, dedicated students who are looking to accelerate their circus training. Students who will benefit from our PCAT Prep program range from those who are just embarking on their path toward a circus career, to seasoned professionals who are looking to revisit their core skills, develop a new act, or enhance an existing creation. Students work exclusively under the mentorship of head coach and Sellam Circus Director, Sellam El Ouahabi. We are carefully selecting a small group of no more than 10 students for our 2019-2020 year, allowing for ample and highly focused instruction and guidance. Space is limited, and entry is competitive; affordable, all-inclusive housing may be available to accepted students.

Summer Programs

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to swing from a trapeze? Walk on a wire? Do you wish you could juggle, or stand on your hands? Now is your chance to follow your dreams, and join the circus! This year, we are pleased to announce we will host 8 weeks of our summer camps in our NEW, indoor Biddeford location - as well as 1-week return to the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine! This is a Monday-through-Friday circus arts day camp open to students from 8 to 17 years of age. Each camp day starts with fun warm-ups and games, before breaking into groups to learn skills on the trapeze, aerial silks, rope and aerial hoop - as well as acrobatics, hand balancing, juggling, and more!

Recreational Programs

The Sellam Circus School offers year-round, after-school recreational circus arts classes for youth and adults in its 4,555sf facility in the heart of Biddeford's historic mill district. The Sellam Circus School is located in Building 13 of the Pepperell Mill Campus, and has quickly become a busy all-purpose circus space for a variety of students: From those who are just discovering their delight in circus, to experienced students and artists who are training for a career in the circus industry. Youth classes are geared for students from age 8 - 16; Adult classes are designed for students age 16 and over. (The Sellam Circus School is always happy to consider students who may fall outside of age requirements.) All recreational classes have a focus on carefully building foundation skills, including core strength, fast-twitch movement and agility, deep flexibility, and fluidity. Intensive Courses

Our Adult Summer Circus Intensive is based upon our year-round Professional Circus Arts Training (PCAT) prep program, providing up to 5 days/week of intensive circus training under the guidance of Sellam El Ouahabi. Each day includes 3 hours of instruction in a small-group setting, and 1 hour of Open Studio (from 7 - 8 pm) following a prescribed training plan from Sellam. This is a great opportunity to immerse in the discipline of your choice - from aerial straps, to acrobatics, handbalance, contortion, and more - under the guidance of an elite-level coach who specializes in accelerating development of core strength, deep flexibility, coordination, and foundation skills. This course is recommended for anyone from beginners with a strong desire to focus and hone their core skills, to experienced artists looking to fine tune in their disciplines, or develop an act.
