Sydney Ignacio an Aerial Straps Artist and performer, along with a background in Pole Artistry is a former Professional Classical Ballet and Modern Dancer with multiple techniques from The Royal Academy of Dance, Russian Bolshoi,Balanchine,Paul Taylor,Horton and Graham.
At the age of 14, Sydney began his dance training at the Gigi Velarde-David Ballet Dance Workshop. In 1998, he joined the Earthsavers DREAMS Ensemble where he performed at the World Youth Festival in Lisbon, Portugal following two weeks of performances in London, UK. In January 1999, he received a full scholarship to Steps Dance Studio where he earned a grade of "Commended" at the Royal Academy of Dance Elementary Exam in May 2000 and a grade of "Honors" in June 2001. He attended several master classes in the Philippines with Anna Villadolid of the Bavarian National Ballet, Maiqui Mañosa and Robert Barnett of Atlanta Ballet, and Alexander Tressor. He danced as a guest artist for the Royal Academy of Dance Teachers Association for the production of Nutcracker as the Prince. Sydney joined Philippine Ballet Theatre as a Soloist for 5 years. His repertoire with PBT includes Who Cares?, Dark Angel in Serenade, Count Joldon in The Merry Widow, Raymonda, Esmeralda, Madame Butterfly, Paris in Romeo and Juliet, Don Quijote, Hunchback of Notre Dame, La Bayadere, and joined them in their international tour in Taipei, Taiwan in 2002. Sydney moved to the US in 2006 to pursue his career, joining Verb Ballets where he performed works by Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Heinz Poll, Hernando Cortez and many others. He worked with the Washington Reflexions Dance Company and performed a solo dance created by Rey Tadio. Sydney performed with CityDance Ensemble for their family show “The Jungle Books” as Shere Khan at the Lansburgh Theatre, and he also joined the company for the “YES Virginia Dance Festival” in Richmond, VA and for “The Mountain” at the Kennedy Center. Bronze Medals for BOTH U.S. National Pole Championships level 4 in 2014 and Atlantic pole championship professional level male category in 2015. In 2016 he was a CIRCUS STAR Finalist and Audience Favorite for Aerial Straps Competition . Sydney is a faculty member of Sax lounge located in Washington DC .
