Hi my name is Sophia and hula hooping is one of my biggest passions. I discovered the art at 8 years old and haven’t stopped hooping ever since. It is a way to express myself, stay connected to my body and I love the community that is formed through hooping too.
The first year I picked up a hoop at WOMAD, I lay a hat down and people watched as little 8 year old me brought them a smile. I learned that this was truly a way to live, and decided I wanted to be a hula hooper when I grew up. The second year I returned with 2 hoops, the third year with 3. I can now hoop 10 hoops at once. I started teaching and performing officially when I was 13 and I really enjoy sharing hooping with the world.
I have performed as part of The Mad Hatters Circus, Circus Piddly and been part of events such as; The Great Estate, Epsom Derby, Golden Iris Festival, Creation Fest, Play Fest and The Sea Change Festival.
