Simon Kaltgrad is a dynamic and versatile drummer with deep roots in the Southern California and Las Vegas music scenes. With decades of live performance, studio work, and songwriting experience, Simon brings precision, groove, and creative energy to every project he joins.
Humble beginnings banking pots and pans, and as Drum Captain of his high school marching band, Simon built a strong technical foundation early on. His professional career took off in the Los Angeles rock circuit, performing with bands like Jendell, Evil Hippies, Page 3, “Bad Music”, Citizens of the Human Race, and Noticeable Ones at legendary venues including The Troubadour, Whisky a Go Go, The Roxy, House of Blues, Paladino's, The Viper Room, Red Rock Casino, San Manuel Casino, and Majestic Ventura Theater.
Throughout his journey, Simon has played a wide range of styles — from hard rock, musical theater (bass, drums and percussion), and original singer-songwriter projects. He has shared stages with major acts and was personally hired by Dale Bozzio to drum for the iconic band Missing Persons. Simon is vendor-endorsed by SoulTone Cymbals and Phoenix Drums.
Recent performances include two consecutive years of Viva Oy Vegas live shows at The Space and Necropolis for The JCC of Southern Nevada, as well as sit-in appearances at and other Las Vegas venues. Simon is currently performing on Thursday nights at Red Rock Casino in the Rouge Room. Simon continues to expand his presence in the Las Vegas music community, offering live performance and studio recording services.
Simon has extensive experience tracking drums for studio projects — both for his own material and for countless other artists. His adaptable style, professional attitude, and commitment to serving the music make him a trusted collaborator for live performances, studio sessions, and songwriting partnerships.
