Only Child Aerial Theatre

Only Child Aerial Theatre is a New York City-based company of actors and acrobats who create ensemble driven aerial theatre. We specialize in creating poetic theatrical worlds where aerial acrobatics is a tool for heightened storytelling.

Creative:

ASYLUM, the company's first full length show, premiered in North Carolina in 2015 and had its New York premiere at Circus Now: International Contemporary Circus Exposure in March 2017. Our second show Story Hour is being developed as part of the 2016/2017 New Victory LabWorks at The New Victory Theater in New York City.

In addition to creating original work, we offer AERIAL DIRECTION, CHOREOGRAPHY, and DESIGN CONSULTATION to theatre and dance companies seeking to include aerial in their work. Recent work includes the American premiere of "Hetty Feather" at Delaware Theatre Company as well as Ripe Time's "The World is Round" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (Fishman Theatre).

Educational:

Only Child offers workshops in aerial acrobatics and choreography, physical storytelling and tools for athletic sustainability largely drawn from the Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) approach to joint mobility training. We also collaborate with other companies to facilitate learning for other artists. Past collaborations have included workshops offered by NoFit State's (recent show "Bianco") director Firenza Guidi and performer Danilo De Campos Pacheco, as well as Frantic Assembly's (movement choreography for Broadway's "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" and "Once") Jess Williams.
