JANGO EDWARDS
Founder of the original "Festival of Fools", director of "Nouveau Clown Institute" and "Fools Militia", creator of Cabaret Cabron, artist, international clown, director and producer. During the last 47 years he has acted, directed and taught in more than 30 countries and is constantly active in the overall evolution of the clown profession. Jango in the past has tutored, coached, directed, trained, advised and produced numerous artists which assisted in their personal and artistic success. El Tricycle, Loco Brusca, Nina Hagen, Grace Jones, Venessa Redgrave, Le Nuls, Peter Shub, Santiago Segura and Aldo Giovanni and Giacomo are but a few of those to collaborate with Jango.
As a Clown Performer, he works with other professional’s solo or in an ensemble; how to relate to the audience in unpredictable and spontaneous situations and how to improvise and adapt in order to give the gift of laughter to an unsuspecting public. He defines clown as a modern solider playing the role of comic actor as a social warrior, laughter terrorist and mercenary of humor. “The world is a stage and each must play his part” might seem a cliché to some people but for the clown it is the truth”.
CLAUDIA CANTONE
Claudia Cantone, clown and art therapist. In 1995 she enrolled in the three-year Theatre school "La Scaletta", (University in Rome), earning her diploma in 1998.
She trained on the art of clown participating and completing several master class programs training with Jango Edwards, Laura Herts, Leo Bassi, Virginia Imaz and Carlo Colombaioni and others.
She studied corporeal mime at “Escuela de mimo Moveo” in Barcelona.
She founded in Rome the clown ensemble “Clowntime” where artists can experiment and try out new ideas and in Barcelona the female clown company “Las Enclownadas” .
Over the past 8 years Claudia has created, produced and toured 3 solo shows: “ Zerozero Clown¨; “The Adventure of Yaya Clown”, a street show; “The Secret Annexe”, a clown show based on Anna Frank story; and “Yaya in the Moon”. In 2014 she was featured in the documentary “Fool of Life” directed by Tommaso Magnano. She collaborated with the Social Promotion Association "Corus Couple, Coral, Cosmo Art" directed by Dr. Silvana Pera, Director of the “Department of Study and Research on the couple of Sophia University of Rome”. She worked as a theater coach-trainer in the theatre at Rebibbia jail in Rome and has been during the past 6 years assistant director at “Nouveau Clown Institute” (N.C.I. Barcelona). In addition Ms. Cantone is a permanent member of the N.C.I. faculity where she presents the classes such as "Clown Chi", "White Nose" and "Buffoons-Sacred & Profane". She incorporates the meditations of Osho and using reiki plus art therapy to reveal the “Clown Soul."
She currently teaches her own clown workshop using art therapy as a means of access to the universe of clown and for creation of numbers. This makes her workshop special mostly in the creation process.
She graduated in art therapy and she is doing his apprenticeship as an art therapist for blind people at the Institute “Sant'Alessio” in Rome.
NOUVEAU CLOWN INSTITUTE
The master class is for professional clown artists to learn, teach and exchange creative ideas with each other; a school where new actors have the opportunity for direct contact with master instructors, daily exposure to assorted technique and production skills, and an understanding of the comic formula's that make comedy and clowning function in all environments.
This event is created for all members of the Nouveau Clown community to operate and serve as a launching pad for actors to become familiar with the variety of clown artists and schools that specialize in comedy and the art of clown.
Finally and most important of all it is the wishes of the N.C.I. staff to make your visit as creative, productive and inspiring as possible. To achieve this we remind you that this is an educational institution of the highest standards and if you come with open mind and open heart then we will open the door for you to a new future.
The Sessions
Classes will be held 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 7 pm totaling 200 hours of class time training. There will be an additional 30 hours of research time which includes special viewing assignments of films and videos.
In addition, each A.I.T. (actor in training) in attendance can receive, if they request, a one-on-one private session with a master teacher. Classes will be in English, French, Spanish, and Russian with translations.
At the end of each week on Saturday evenings, there will be performances presented by the actors in training, faculty and invited guest artists (Cabaret Cabron). These performances will be open to the general public.
One-on-One Sessions
Those of you who have clown or comedy routines, stage acts or numbers that you would like to perform in the weekly “Cabaret Cabron” productions please bring those items required to present your act including music, props and costumes. A maximum of no more than 3 acts from your repertory is advised.
We also recommend that you bring any audio/ video material of your work which can be viewed by members of the faculty to assist us in directing you.
In addition to you’re in class sessions you will receive selected data based materials. It is a mandatory request that you bring with you a pen drive or memory stick in which this data can be stored. This information will be a useful reference in the future once you have successfully completed the master class and graduated from “The Nouveau Clown Institute”...that is if you graduate!!!

The curriculum consists of "Clown Theory", the principal foundation of the Nouveau Clown movement – the essencial state of innocence of the Clown - who opens the portal to understand your "Matrix"; "Hakuna Matata", a regression to the beast in you for progression; "Hokey Pokey" the knowledge of the archetypes and structures of the Clown game; "White Nose" as an experience of reflecting on the sense of the illuminated “clown chi”; "Comic Formula's", an introduction to some of the elements of the essential principles and working comic concepts of how a gag and/or sketch works. The content includes the elements of 3 gag routines, repetitive comic activity, physical and visual humor, the black and white frame for sketch creation, comic timing, orchestration; “Buffon Alien and Creation number” session with final cabaret show online.

SESSIONS OF THE SERIES: FIRST SESSION: THE DALI HA HA IN THE SKY
This series is aimed at all those, beginners and not, who want to experience the “state of innocence” in a Clown, to rediscover the most childish and the most instinctive sides of themselves.
This is a voyage to uncover, remember and reclaim what we have forgotten, lost or surendered. A return to the a moment of life, birth and our original rhythm of the womb. The course will begin by working on the roots of universal theater, where body language is the predominant communication tool.
Going back to the basic of evolution and a clown rebirthing, Jango and Claudia lead you on a primitive voyage to reclaim the true freedom you possessed at birth but over the years surrendered to fear.
Today clown is not about progression but regression!
SECOND AND THIRD SESSIONS: THE CLOWN HOLY GRAIL (COMIC FORMULAS & WHITE NOSE)

Imagine being like Indiana Jones traveling in search of the Holy Grail, through unknown worlds, using a simple map! The Comic Formulas is that map!

FOURTH SESSION:THE BUFFOONS AND ALIEN CREATION
Who among us has not wondered, at least once in their life, if there are aliens? You have certainly thought about the alien ET a Spielberg film! What if each of us had our own alien instead? What would it look like and what would it do? Well, always following the clown language code, in this session we can find out!
We will contact, reveal and develop our alien inside, through art therapy sessions. So, as if we were working with clay, we will give shape, character and life to our alien (name, age, content, role and emotions), which we will then bring comically on to the stage!
