Milena Oksanen

I am a multidisciplined aerialist with performing experience in most aerial diciplines, both solo and duo. I am speciliazed in Swinging trapeze, aerial hoop and Silks.

I started my circus career in a local circus school when I was 6 years old, I did simultanuasly artistic gymnastics and circus for years until I finally decided to focus only on my circus career and left to study in the State Circus School of Russia in Moscow. After my graduation from Moscow I continued my studies in Academie Fratellini with Alexander Doubrovski as my main coach. I graduated in 2012 with the title Diplôme des Metiers d'arts. Since then I have searched for additional guidance by taking private classes with Victor Fomine in Montreal.

I have been performing full time since 2012 worldwide in different types of productions shows, circuses, International Circus Festivals, art projects, theatres, musicals, Cruise Ship, Ice shows, Galas and so on. I was lucky to already perform professionally during my studies in Fratellini as the school encouraged and helped with that.

I really enjoy being part of big productions and I like performing more than one dicipline. I like having the liberty to perform and create my own acts but also don't mind being directed. Lately I have also engaged in creating my own shows together with my colleagues from other artfields. We premiered Cirque Plastia's first own production The Sound of Movement in March 2022. My project Beatland- A circus Dream was one of the selected projects for Together Alone 2.0 created by the Finnish Institutes during the Pandemic times.

The highlights of my career includes playing Crystal in Crystal by Cirque du Soleil, playing the lead character in Joyeux Calvaire by Cirque du Soleil, touring all of Spain with The Hole 2, performing at International Circus Festivals in Italy, Russia, China and Germany.

Outside of Circus my biggest passion is social (partner) dancing, I have been dancing couple salsa, bachata and Brazilian Zouk for the past decade, and you can most likely find me on a dancefloor when I'm not in a training hall or on stage ;)
