MIGHTY JAMBO CIRCUS ACADEMY

Mighty Jambo Circus Academy is an art organisation dedicated in nurturing the circus talents of youths in Kenya. Vision Mighty Jambo´s vision is to see acceptability of art as a way of expression and integration to the community. Mighty Jambo Trust wants to help artists embrace their talents and become role models who are instrumental in the positive development of their community. Mission  Mighty Jambo´s mission is to empower youth by giving them tools to express themselves through art. This way, Mighty Jambo Trust gives youth the opportunity to improve on their artistic skills so that they can eventually build a professional career in the art industry. OUR OBJECTIVES ARE:   1.To develop artistic skills to quality professional world class levels, ultimately creating jobs. 2.To form arts related projects to give disadvantaged children a chance. 3.To contribute to the social and cultural development of the society in the widest sense by promoting public awareness and providing access to art: acrobatics, dance, and contemporary music from Kenya. 4.To tap into, and preserve talent and culture through acrobatics as a performing art. 5.To advance their skills and give opportunities to the artists through training workshops, outreach activities, performances and international exchanges. 6.To manage artists and develop new show ideas. Mighty Jambo Circus Academy has the following programs: Program for children and youth Description: This is a program which offers extracurricular activities which allow young people 9 to 17 years of age to begin professional training towards becoming circus artists while pursuing their primary or secondary education.The AcroEducation program looks in sourcing funds for education for the children and youth while nurturing there talents.The program comprises of solid physical preparation and technical and artistic training in the basic disciplines of circus and performing arts. Duration and structure: two years. First year: It focuses on physical training and introduction to dance, acting and acrobatics. This period is divided into three levels (basic, intermediate and advanced) and will have periodic evaluations. Second year: It is dedicated to the development of one specific acrobatic skill such as balancing, juggling or group acrobatics. Trainings: Between 13 and 15 hours per week, depending on the age. Sessions: From Monday to friday: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Saturdays: 9 a.m. – 12 a.m. Program for adults   Description: The program is a two year accredited course for adults who wish to pursue the full advanced training necessary to become a circus artists or trainer in Kenya. This is a fast growing industry in Kenya and is opening up many opportunities and works are available for professionally trained people. In order to achieve this goal, students must commit with the Mighty Jambo Circus Academy to an intensive preparatory training. Duration and structure: The program is for two years. However, depending on the initial evaluation, pupils will access to one of the three levels of this program: Basic: physical training (3 months). Intermediate: physical training and introduction to dance, acting and acrobatics (9 months). Advanced: It is dedicated to the development of one specific acrobatic skill (1 year), such as: Balancing Juggling Choreography The candidate: Demonstrates proficiency in circus arts, dance or acrobatic sport with and artistic component. Has developed physical and shows coordination, flexibility and body awareness and is in excellent health. Is available mornings during the week and on Saturday mornings for the group gymnastics training Demonstrates determination, discipline and creativity Trainings: The pupils will train 24 hours per week, which will be divided into 6 sessions. These sessions will be carried out from Monday to Friday (8 a.m. – 12 a.m.), and on Saturdays morning (9 a.m. – 12 a.m.) for group gymnastics.
