Mel discovered the upside-down and magical world of aerial dance in 2011. Working with the Art of Pole Studio, Sydney Pole, Sydney Dance Company, BhaVana Aerial Studio, and most recently the National Circus School of Cambodia (NCSOC), Mel has a wide range of experience creating unique shows for art festivals, showcases and competitions, private parties, charity events, and large theatre productions.
Recent highlights of her dance career include performing under the big top with the NCSOC (2018), performing at Phnom Fem Fest (2020), founding the dance troupe Limerence (2019), delighting party goers for the first pole dance performance in Phnom Penh at La Gina (2019), and dancing at the Factory Theatre, Sydney, for the Encore Sydney Pole Show 2014 and 2015. Mel is currently based in Phnom Penh, teaching yoga and training aerial arts at the NCSOC. She has also trained in Bangkok, Singapore, Paris, and the UK, seeking inspiration from aerialists, dancers, and movement enthusiasts.
Mel is known for her diversity and musicality, choosing songs from outside the box to present a performance that is not only visually captivating but meaningful and story driven. On silks, lyra, pole, and chair, her performances have a strong choreography focus with polished transitions and poses that complement the structure and stylistic elements of the music.
