MateriaViva Performance

The Materiaviva Performance Company was born from the meeting between actors, directors, dancers, authors, circus performers, street artists and professional technicians, who add individual specialization to various and diversified Italian and foreign realities to the common training. The shows and performances offered by this contemporary and innovative circus company combine the aesthetic taste of the image, costumes with a great visual impact, the amazement of circus technique and the poetry of theatrical research.

Aerial acrobatics, juggling, dance with fire, acrobatics, stilts, clowning, aerial dance, are some of the expressive tools used to create dreams and suggestions, theatrical performances and street performances that transport spectators into a parallel dimension, on the border between imagination it is a matter of fact.
The Materiaviva Performance company has for years been bringing together the experience of performers from different sectors: dance, acrobatics, theater, street theater, circus arts.
The meeting, which took place in the workplace, led to a comparison between the different paths faced by individual artists up to a moment when the need arose to experiment with new expressive languages ​​that enclose everyone's baggage.
Through a physical and theatrical training, which deals with the different disciplines, an idea of ​​show has been outlined that has as a priority the idea of ​​using circus techniques, dramaturgy, performers' bodies, light or scenography, to bring stories and emotions on stage and never pure cold technique.
Some of the tools created are the result of the need to adapt the objects to the needs of the show, so that they respond to the idea and image to be communicated. Starting from conventional tools, generally used in the classical circus, we worked to make them not only functional, but also narrative and expressive objects. From the search for the fusion between circus techniques and theater, performances are born that can be properly defined as a contemporary circus and theater of contamination.

The first foundation of the Company dates back to 1992, and since then many artists have joined together continuing to a forge of ideas and physical and expressive research. Shows and performances thus live side by side both in the theater and in public and private events. Among the collaborations over the years we love to remember the Municipality of Rome and Zetema, the Italian Embassy in Madrid - the international chain Melià Hotels, the Reality Circus, Enel, the Mazagan Beach Resort Casablanca Morocco, the CNA, the Luiss Business School, Fendi, Invicta, Nastro Azzurro, Tattoo Expo, Ambra Orfei, Tetra Pak, Hard Rock Caffè and various public bodies, thanks to which shows often come to life in spectacular locations such as ancient castles or wonderful archaeological areas, as in the case of the inauguration of Via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome, of two editions of the Medfest of Buccheri, of the Rocca di San Leo, of the inauguration of the archaeological area of ​​Sepino, of the Roman Carnival in many of its editions and much more.
Roberta Castelluzzo and Alessandra Lanciotti have always been the driving force and beating heart of the Company.
Since 2021, Materiaviva has the artistic direction for the Count of the Municipality of Maranello (MO) of the Paf Theater Circus Festival!.
