Marc Sorensen took his first circus class at The Actors Gymnasium in Evanston, Illinois when he was just four years old. Ever since, his love for circus has grown more and more. He began taking classes year-round by the time that he was eleven, and, a few years later, eventually found himself in the Teen Ensemble at The Actors Gymnasium under the direction of Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi during his high school career, performing in many shows throughout the year.
During his time in the Teen Ensemble, Marc found a love for Corde Lisse, and began training under the coaching of Shayna Swanson in 2015. After graduating from high school, Marc then attended the Research Year at Aloft Circus Arts in Chicago. There, he expanded his general knowledge of circus arts, movement, and physical theatre further. He continued refining his skills in Corde Lisse, while majoring in Cyr Wheel and minoring in Chinese Pole.
After completion of the Research Year, Marc attended Columbia College Chicago for a year while continuing to train and perform in the Chicagoland area. After his year CCC, Marc moved to Normal, Illinois to attend Illinois State University and became a member of the Gamma Phi Circus. With the Gamma Phi Circus, Marc performed in their end of year show and The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with Billy Porter.
Marc plans to complete his education at Oakton Community College and receive an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts in July of 2020.
