Hi! I am Kirsten Taylor, a multidiscipline contemporary circus performer and vocalist.
I grew up in North Carolina where I attended Northwest School of the Arts through my pre-secondary education, with a focus on vocal training and stage acting. I trained Classical (primary), Contemporary, and Ensemble (First Soprano) vocals for five years under Matthew Hinson, and stage acting for five years under Corey Michelle (2015 Tony Award winner for Excellence in Theatre Education). During that time I was also trained in ensemble jazz and contemporary dance.
After my first introduction to circus arts in 2012 at a youth circus studio, I eventually found my primary discipline as an aerial hoop artist. I have also trailed aerial straps, handbalancing, and partner acrobatics with Carlos Alexis Crus (a former student of Master Lu Yi and Artistic Director of the Nouveau Sud Circus Project).
In 2021, I joined the Nouveau Sud Circus Project as a performing cast and creation team member. Some career highlights with Nouveau Sud include originating principal roles in the nationally touring productions La Bestia (winner of the 2021 NEFA National Theatre Creation and Touring Grant), performing aerial hoop, handbalancing, aerial frame, and group acrobatics, and Ricochet: Within the Echo of Violence, performing aerial hoop, group acrobatics, and classical vocals.
In 2024, I debuted my first act in Las Vagas at Viva Fest. I have multiple acts for aerial hoop and am always excited to perform them as well as be involved in creations for different productions.
I have a U.S. passport and am available for contracts and creations for 2024 and beyond!
