Katalin Lightner is a US based performance artist working in the mediums of contemporary circus, physical theater, and technology-driven performance. Her start in circus began at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts in Seattle. Since then, she has performed across the United States in theatrical circus shows, festivals, private events, and television and film. Her passion is in creating performances that tell stories using physical storytelling, designing unique circus equipment, and developing unconventional uses of technology. Her goal is to use technology as a tool for telling stories in live performance instead of as a spectacle or an end means. In 2017, she completed an intensive graduate level field study on circus and performing arts at Concordia University in Montreal, where her chosen focus was on technology and circus. She is also the founder of Dream Rippled Productions, and one of the co-founders of Soda City Cirque, both theatrical circus companies based out of South Carolina. In addition to performing, she designs costuming for artists in motion, with a focus on unconventional materials and wearable technology.
