Hi! My name is Kaity Mussio and I am a professional acrobat & aerialist with a vibrant spirit. I competed in NCAA artistic gymnastics before embarking on my career as a professional circus artist. As an aerialist I perform aerial pole, aerial hoop/lyra, aerial silks, and I am a flyer for flying trapeze, aerial cradle, and hand-to-hand. I also do trampwall, trampoline, and tumbling. I speak English, Spanish, and French, and have also studied Mandarin Chinese.
I fell in love with performing as a young girl when I began dance and gymnastics. As a ballet and jazz dancer I performed in many stage productions, and I also did acting in theater plays. As I got older the sport of gymnastics completely stole my heart and I committed to the intense training hours required to be a high-level competitive gymnast. I competed as a NCAA collegiate athlete for 4 years on the Centenary College of Louisiana gymnastics team. My strongest events were the uneven bars and floor exercise. Immediately after graduating I began my circus training with flying trapeze in the Bay Area, California, as well as aerial straps and rope, and it was an exciting and seamless transition for me from gymnastics. With my background in gymnastics I was able to progress quickly as a flyer in the Professional Flying Trapeze Program at Las Vegas Circus Center and also as an aerialist on several apparatuses.
My first show was in Dubai as an artist in La Perle, a production show by Franco Dragone. In the show I was a hand-to-hand flyer, and an aerialist doing silks, hoop, aerial pole and aerial harness. I then went back to Las Vegas training in the Professional Flying Trapeze Program, and performed flying trapeze with Circus Vargas, and flying trapeze & aerial hoop with The Flying Royals. I then performed the solo aerial hoop act in ALMA Rhythms of the Night by Mukhtar Mukhtar, and aerial hoop, dance trapeze and spanish web in Ringling. I am now in the show Bon Voyage by Cirque Éloize in Montréal, where I am the solo aerial pole artist, as well as acting in several character roles.
As an artist, I always hold the intention of connecting and channeling my energy into the audience. I was once a young girl sitting in the audience seeing a Cirque show for the first time, and I was so moved that I knew in that moment the one thing I wanted was to become an acrobat performing on the stage. It was been a dream come true to fulfill that vision. Every time I step on stage I aim to inspire someone watching, perhaps a little girl in the audience like I once was, in the hopes that she will go chase her own dreams too. I value professionalism, collaboration as a team, consistent training, a positive attitude and being open-minded. I am very energetic and I persist through any obstacles until the desired outcome is reached. I believe we are stronger when we connect with each other.
