The Holektiv ensemble, officially operating as an association since 2016, was founded by three performers— Andrea Vykysalá, Eva Stará, and Karolína Křížková— out of their own creative initiative.
Since then, the ensemble has evolved into a platform that facilitates the creation and development of new original productions based on current social themes, brings together various creators across artistic and technical disciplines, and provides work opportunities for young performers.
Holektiv combines physical theater with dance and contemporary circus in its projects. We bring cultural experiences to audiences not only in theaters but also in outdoor spaces through open-air performances, often without the need for tickets, thereby building relationships with audiences from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. Through our work, we open social debates, provide commentary, and foster connections.
Our company operates on both the Czech and international stages. In addition to choreography and performance, the ensemble is also engaged in dance and contemporary circus pedagogy.
Over the course of our existence, we have collaborated with leading Czech artists such as Matěj Forman, Terezie Kovalová, Jan Frič, Veronika Poldauf Riedlbauchová, and many others. We bring together artists from various fields who, through working with us, are introduced to theater for the first time— these include designers, costume creators, musicians, as well as scientists such as astronomers, environmentalists, and psychologists. We are an ensemble firmly rooted in the 21st century, and we are therefore drawn to topics related to the issues of our time.
In addition to our own work, we have been part of larger projects such as the opening ceremony at Letní Letná directed by Maxim Gulko, an open-air project directed by the renowned Cirque Aïtal, and we have collaborated on several opening and closing ceremonies of the Fórum Festival in Hradec Králové. We also created choreography for the opera The Magic Flute at the South Bohemian Theater, among others.
