Greentop is a dedicated centre for circus arts with over 20 years' experience serving the North of England with professional circus arts and training, youth circus, specialist workshops and events for communities, schools and businesses
Our mission is to promote excellent circus that inspires young people, strengthens communities and develops artists.
We are part of a national movement re-discovering circus as a 21st Century, art and participatory form. Our role ranges from re-engaging disaffected young people and those with particularly learning needs in communities settings and in schools across the region, to developing aspiring circus artists and supporting new show creation. In 2016 we reached over 17500 participants through over 750 workshops and events. We offer:
• Artist development through practice, creative development and performance opportunity and access to specialist training facilities including the only fixed swinging trapeze in the north of England.
• Opportunities to join; in from aged four, 7 Youth Circus classes each week adult evening courses and classes and specialist weekend workshops from trapeze to tightwire.
• Host performances, including showcasing of new work
• Outreach and circus project commissions relating to education and organisation development needs, supporting people with particular health and learning needs.
• Responding to the needs of our local neighbourhood, working with 30 local young people from the Roma community.
