Diana Salles (Brazil) - Proudly a trans woman
Born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1996. She discovered circus by accident, but quickly developed a passion that would lead her to choose it as her career, and in 2013 She joined the Escola de Circo e Artes Culturais in Brazil. Looking to go deeper in her work, then attended the Superior School of Circus Arts (ESAC) in Brussels, where she specialised in and developed her own style of aerial silks.
Following her graduation in 2018, she won multiple awards with her finishing piece Genèse, including the bronze medal and the “Prix de la Ville de Paris” at the 40th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, and the silver medal and Audience’s prize at the Iberoamerican Circus Festival (FIRCO) in 2019.
In early 2019, she became part of the original cast of the show Sombra by GOP Varieté-Theater in Germany, and in 2020 she created the aerial hoop act Symposium, exploring love in a changing world. The act has premiere in the GOP show concept Variety, a year later Diana won the Colombino prize in Young Stage 2021 Festival in Basel for her ¨Symposium Performance.¨
In 2021 Diana co-directed her first show with the TSAK! kollektive in which she is also a performer, the show received support from the Hannover Unesco City of Music. In that same year she was directed and performed alongside Ludwig Obst in the Queer Cabaret LILA LIED, performing in collaboration with SCHWUZ in Berlin.
In 2022 She was cast as the original cast of SABOTAGE by NofitState circus company in the UK, a leading big scale contemporary circus. she toured the UK for 9 months performing 100 shows with her piece about transsexuality
