Recreational Programs

Tiny Tumblers is a fantastic class for those inexhaustible toddlers aged 2-4 years old. A parent-child bonding class where you and your child will join in for group games, explore a circus circuit together and learn progressively difficult shapes, skills and circus apparatus, including trampoline, tight-wire, aerials, and more. Our coach Sarah, will encourage your child to learn, explore, discover and socialise through play. The possibilities for this class are endless. Parent/Guardian participation required. $18/class or $144/term (8wks)

In Super Circus your child will be encouraged to let their imagination soar, develop their social skills and physical literacy and burn some of that ceaseless energy. They’ll learn circus fundamentals including tumbling, manipulation skills such as spinning plates, flower sticks, and juggling along with some basic aerials, all under the careful eye of our exuberant trainers Elke (Monday class) and Brenna (Wednesday class). This class is perfect for young children whether they love to clown around or want to be the next circus superstar. $160/term (8wks)

Explore aerial silk, rope, trapeze and lyra (aerial hoop) in this beginners class and feel your strength, flexibility and confidence growing as you progress through the term, make new friends and discover the amazing things that your body can do. In this class students will learn a mix of tumbling, group acrobatics, aerials, rolla bolla, tightwire and manipulation skills such as juggling, diablo and more.

Intensive Courses

This class is a prerequisite for adult beginner aerials (13+) and the perfect opportunity to build the strength and skills required for further circus training. In this class you will participate in a mix of floor based and aerial conditioning exercises which will build your strength and stamina. You will also learn some basic aerials skills. This is class is great for those looking to go into an aerials program as well as anyone looking for a full body conditioning class. $20/class or $160/term (8wks)

In partner acrobatics you will learn to safely and successfully perform a variety of progressively difficult partner acrobatics skills and moves in a safe and sustainable way. This class is a unique way to build your strength, skills and stamina by discovering a new way to connect with others. Both partners must enrol in this course individually. $232/term (8wks)

In this open level adults program, our trainers Jess and Ben will lead you in an energetic group warmup, get you juggling more than just your schedule and then invite you to choose a specialist skill to learn, either acrobatics or aerials. You will have the opportunity to try both of these skills and move between them over the term or to pick one and stick to it. In this class you will develop a breadth of circus skills, meet other budding circus enthusiasts and learn to let go in a safe and open circus environment. $232/term (8wks)

Prerequisite: Aerial conditioning To attend this class all students must be able to climb rope and silk and to straddle in the air. If you are an absolute beginner then Aerial Conditioning on a Tuesday night is the best program to begin with. Calling all adults, be brave, get fit and try something new. This beginner aerials class is the perfect opportunity to build your strength, learn a new skill and build some 'you time' into your week. In this class, you will learn the basics of aerials including techniques to build your strength, flexibility and coordination in the air. Join us in the Freo Big Top, let go of stress, find your tribe and discover what you're capable of. $232/term (8wks)

Do you find it hard to walk past a street pole without climbing it or wishing you could?Then Chinese Pole might be for you. Sometimes described as vertical acrobatics, the pole is a high intensity skill. In this program, Nathan Kell will support beginners to get moving along the pole and intermediate learners to strengthen their skills and grow their repertoire. $160/term (8wks)

Can you confidently complete level 2/3 skills such as front and back balances and helicopters? Then you’re ready to progress to this level 3/4 class. Here, our tenacious trainer Simon will teach you advanced dynamic technique, as well as starting exercises to prepare you for rolling up. Students in this class will learn to use beats transitionally and link moves, as well as learn more difficult moves such as hip lock roll ups, handstands, moses twists, meathooks and meathook climbs and helicopter pirouettes. This class is perfect for advanced students who are ready for a challenge. $261/term (9wks)

Teeterboard is a high energy circus apparatus using another’s body to launch yours into the air giving you time to twist and turn before landing back on your feet. This program will develop safe Teeterboard techniques and have you exploring the air beneath you. $145/term (5wk program, begins March 5th)

In this advanced level trapeze class, our expert trainer Elke will guide you through increasingly difficult technical moves and prepare you to learn advanced strength-based trapeze skills. $232/term (8wks)

In this handstand class, Nathan Kell will guide you over the threshold of frustration and teach you to make your legs dance gracefully while your arms and shoulders stabilise you. This is not for absolute beginners. Some understanding of handstand must be achieved with the ability to free stand for a short time. $160/term (8wks)

Have you always wanted to ride a unicycle and do more than just balance on a rolla bolla? Well now is the time to take to the backyard with a focused mind to tame these skills. The unicycle may even become your preferred form of commuter transport. $232/term (8wks)

Also known as PDG, this is our youngest youth troupe (ages ranging from 9 – 13) with students who have shown an interest in performing alongside their circus endeavours. Unchanged: Also known as PDG, this is our youngest youth troupe (ages ranging from 9 – 13) with students who have shown an interest in performing alongside their circus endeavours. The troupe meet together on a weekly basis to improve their group skills, explore aspects of performance and put together acts and shows. After their time in PDG, students will fly onwards and upwards to CircusWA’s older youth troupes: Colliders and/or Sliders. $300/term

The Sliders youth troupe is CircusWA's advanced troupe made up of circus students aged 15-22. Participation is by invite only with performers chosen based on their exceptional skills in Circus arts, focus and independence in training, and interest in going beyond 'tricks' and becoming a performer. The program accepts up to 12 students annually. In this troupe students explore clown and performance quality alongside development of their own creativity. Participants will explore solo and duo works as well as a strong focus on ensemble work. All students are expected to expand beyond their primary circus skill and develop a breadth of skills in acrobatics, aerials and juggling. The program is designed to prepare the participants for entrance into specialist circus training institutions nationally and internationally. This is also a pathway into professional performance with a variety of production companies in WA. On top of two skills training sessions a week (individuals choose), the troupe meets weekly on a Sunday afternoon and are asked to attend one open training session on a Friday for self-directed development. During holidays when not in creative developments or rehearsals, students are invited to attend skills intensives with a range of inspirational guest artists. The Sliders annual program is made up of skills intensives, one major annual production with a guest artistic director and a variety of smaller productions at local festivals and arts events. This is the tween/teenage youth troupe, the Colliders range in age from 12-17. This group is the next step for students who’re interested in performance and have finished with PDG or come to us a little bit older or with advanced skills. The troupe meet together on a weekly basis to improve their group skills and explore aspects of performance and creation. All troupe members also take a range of skills classes either at CircusWA or other centres. In addition to their weekly meetings, they participate in intensives during the school holidays and work with guest artists to develop productions. After their time in Colliders, students will move on to CircusWA’s oldest youth troupe, the Sliders. $300/term
